Reminder of how precious life is...

Yesterday (Friday) was a very sad day for our local Navy men. At 12:10 pm, two aircrafts flying a practice flight here in Fallon collided in mid-air. Two aviators were saved, one died at the scene. http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/06/13/navy.jets.collide.ap/index.html Anytime anything like this happens, its hard on any Navy wife. Even if we didn't know the sailor personally that passed away, we still remember that it was someone's husband, father and/or son. It reminds us that although we like to fool ourselves into thinking that our husbands are safe because they are home and not at war, an accident can happen anywhere and at anytime. Here in Fallon, our husbands fly multi-million dollar aircrafts through difficult mountain terrain everyday. The school at Fallon is teaching the best of the best to be even better. Yet, because of that, the schooling here is tough and accidents happen from time to time. My heart goes out to the family of the aviator that was killed. I pray for them - and ask you to. I am reminded how precious life is and how we should cherish everyday that we have with someone. That wife said goodbye to her husband as he left Norfolk a few weeks ago fully expecting to see him again in a few weeks. Now, she won't see him again (at least not on Earth). Someone asked me once why my life is so stressful. Well, everyday that my husband leaves for work, I remember that there is an ever-remote chance that he might not come home. I know that can be said of everyone. We could be in a car accident or something like that. But as military wives, well, most of us have a special prayer in our hearts because we know that everyday we put our husband's lives in the hands of God. Just something to remember the next time you celebrate something honoring our military. The true sacrifice is done by the wife that pack his bags, loans her husband and father of her kids to our country, and stays behind to pray every second (usually with tears in her eyes). So the next time you see someone in uniform, don't forget to thank them for all they do for our country - but also, thank the woman next to him for loving her country enough to loan it the love of her life in the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

I promise to be more cheerful tomorrow.
