Memorial Day Fun!

This Memorial Day we visited the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City. Sam went on his first real train ride! They were offering 20 minute rides on a real stream locomotive. It was so much fun. He loved it. He comes from a long line of train enthusiasts. His paternal grandfather is a model railroader with over a thousand (too many to count) trains on a beautiful layout. His mom and dad are starting their own collection, but sadly only have about a dozen trains so far. Sam's love of trains can be traced back in his bloodline even farther than that. His maternal great, great grandfather worked for the Texas railroad. We are currently researching through old records and rail road archives exactly which railroad. All we know so far is that he was stationed in Robstown, Texas and worked in a 'roundhouse' (where trains go to be fixed and freshened up). Sam loves to visit the model railroad at his Grandpa Randy's house, and now he can say he's been on a real train! We hope to introduce him to the trains at Disney soon.
